Jiggs Whigham 2012 ETW - Pbone Blues
His way of posting is so arrogant and obnoxious. He is known for bolero, bolero have him the majority of his fame.
This is how the piece ought to be played. It’s a show piece. Go as crazy as you can handle or practice for!
I would have loved to have him as my trombone teacher. His students are very fortunate. 7/10/2022
I play Bass Trombone like Ian- I only dream of being that good!!! Bravo Ian!
Super talent trombon Grand maestro .
This accompanist just experienced his toughest day of the life
Nah, he's been to boot camp...
Sheet music ?
I feel like since it wasn't going to well from the start, he juat decided to try to pass is all off as a joke.
Who let David Wallace's brother pick up a trombone?
man have heared that i will never play that piece again hahahah
na de lokos
What a tortured mess of sonic materiel. Army band should stick to Sousa marches. This sounds like something a cat dragged in...Shrodingers cat. 1 star for Alessies eyebrows.
Magical
i would pay money just to see ian bousfield play around with his accompanist.
This kind of reminds me of a Victor Borge performance.
This is so good it's scary.
Huge mouthpiece. Interesting....shows it's technique and not equipment.
Umm...wow. But he needs to clean his bell. ;-)
the bell is missing lacquer, lots of players strip the lacquer off to get a warmer darker tone, especially with a rose brass bell like that
bonebonebone bonebonebone, so does the stripping result in a random pattern that makes the trombone look like it needs to be cleaned? And I can’t see a little lacquer making enough of a difference to be audible to the human ear.
@@ChaplainAcosta it does actually! the petina is what makes it look like that and I've seen some really beautiful ones. and it doesn't make a huge difference in the recording but sitting next to someone the difference is massive, it sounds like a totally different horn.
bonebonebone bonebonebone, I’ve read about these kinds of claims and the fact that you say there is no difference in a recording lends support to the the likelihood that any difference is psychological (that is, subjectively perceived) rather than actual. Have you ever seen any of those vids comparing expensive professional instruments to cheap ones and they switch between the instruments a few times? If you close your eyes, you usually experience no difference between the instruments; but if you open your eyes, somehow they are different. We want to believe our expensive gear must be better than inexpensive gear. But the real difference is the player. I’m not saying poorly made instruments (bad intonation relative to itself, poorly engineered, etc.) don’t play any different than well made instruments. I’m just saying the difference between a so called good student model and a pro model in the hands of a mediocre musician won’t sound appreciably different. The same is true if they were in the hands of a professional musician. In the latter example, the student class instrument will sound amazing if the musician is amazing.
I would agree, the instrument itself doesn’t really matter, except for comfort to the player.
He plays YAMAHA?
not anymore he plays a getzen/edwards now
上手いのか、下手なのか、 分かりませんw
無印不良品 最高に上手すぎます
途中の笑い声からして、なんか遊びで吹いてるとかかな?そういうノリで聞こえる。だとしたらうまいやこりゃあ
I think he sleeps with this solo
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzBluebellsofScotlandzzzzzzzzzz
Is the arrangement available for purchase?
Good to see that wasn't all men, in the octet.
wow
This was an amazing performance. I was in the second row in a small venue. I can highly recommend the Eastern Trombone Workshop (renamed the American Trombone Workshop) held yearly in March at Fort Myer in Washington,DC. I've attended 3 of them. Free access to all events from Wed-Sat. featuring world class trombone performances - jazz, classical, concert etc... Competetions, master classes, performances and nightly concerts all free and amazing. A must do for any brass fan.
Wow...Joe makes those high notes seem effortless.
He was rushing really bad but it was still good.
+Ian Ferguson r u dumb its meant to be a joke. Notice the dramatic changes in tempo
I think the speed takes some of the beauty from the solo. The main nice slow nsolo is not a comedy act. I do not carre how great he is. As a composer I expect my compositions to be respected!! Carole Paul
@@carolepaul8390 do you have any of the history of this or Arthur Pryor? This is a show piece, first and foremost.
Actually this is prototypically accurate, since Arthur Pryor rushed the hell out of his pieces.
I have played pretty much all the parts, but later in life as I have played it in groups I always get stuck with the lip slur...
I have played this many times while under the tutelage of Donald Knaub. Very fun to see it out there on you tube.
Is this in F or Bb Major? I can't quite tell, but those are my best guesses.
you sure this is in major?
the tonal center is F, but overall I would consider the work strongly modal and freely tonal. The beginning of the last section has a tonal center of G (and imho is my favorite part of the work), but it goes back to F modal for the end.
amazingly good and funny!!!!!! thank you :-)
I LOVE THIS AND HAVE WATCHED IT OVER AND OVER....
Hilarious and amazing! i just can't xD
Jiggs has such an attractive style its ridiculous
amazing !
I love Mr. Alessi's playing on this! But this band did him absolutely no justice.

Well excuse me while I go and break my trombone because of low self esteem
Please don't do that. Your Trombone has so much to live for.
That performance was absolutely amazing. I was actually only sitting a few seats away.
I heard him play this with the Dallas Wind Symphony I believe March 26, or March 28. Amazing!

is it me, or did Joe Alessi gave a look to the percussion section?
*is the
lol he was the principle trombone player of the Vienna Phil.. I like your critique anyway.
Craig, This is Paul Compton, the coach of this group. Thanks for taking this video. Is there any way you can email the original video file to me? Our University wants to use it for something. My email is paul.compton.trombone@gmail.com
I just love this piece SO MUCH... And I'm not even a trombone player.. I'm a trumpet player, and I'm overwhelmed and rendered speechless by the immense talent that performers show when playing this piece!! Crazy. Praise the Lord for music! :)
Wow
astounding! and fun, too! :-)
What's he like??
Lustig!
